Cignal’s latest championship triumph in the 2024 Spikers’ Turf Invitational Conference has added another remarkable chapter to Louie Ramirez’s blossoming career. The 24-year-old outside hitter from Dasol, Pangasinan, played a crucial role in the HD Spikers' dominant 3-0 victory over the Criss Cross King Crunchers in the gold medal match on Sunday night at the Philsports Arena.
With a dazzling 24-point performance, Ramirez anchored the team’s attack with 21 devastating spikes and three blocks, complementing his stellar defense with 12 excellent receptions. His all-around performance was instrumental in Cignal clinching the title with set scores of 25-19, 25-19, and 26-24. For his outstanding efforts, Ramirez was named Finals MVP, a recognition that marks a career milestone for the rising star.
“Syempre malaking ambag ‘to sa sarili ko, kasi Finals MVP so dala-dala ko ‘to every game na meron ako, kaya ayon inspired ako lagi dahil sa award na ’to,” said Ramirez, reflecting on the personal significance of his achievement.
This victory holds particular meaning for Ramirez, who had been a part of Cignal during the 2022 Open Conference but fell short in the Finals against the National University-Sta. Elena. It was a bitter defeat, but one that fueled his determination to return stronger. After completing his college years with the University of Perpetual Help, Ramirez made a promise to himself: he would give everything to secure a championship when the opportunity arose again.
"Sobrang satisfied ako. Nakapaglaro naman ako nang maayos, saka nailabas yung all out na laro ko,” he shared, expressing his contentment after playing his best in the championship match.
Ramirez, a three-time NCAA champion and two-time Finals MVP, is no stranger to performing on big stages. His experience has made him a key figure for Cignal, and he is poised to continue developing into one of the league's premier players.
As Ramirez takes his place as one of the faces of Cignal, he remains committed to furthering his skills and contributing to the team's success in future tournaments.
