Umandal to lead Cignal as Espejo bids farewell

Jau Umandal is set to lead the Cignal holdovers in the upcoming Spikers' Turf season.

A former Open Conference MVP and Best Outside Spiker awardee in the recently concluded Invitational Conference, Umandal will now take on the role of the HD Spikers' main man following Marck Espejo's departure.

Cignal, through its social media accounts on Monday afternoon, also confirmed the return of setter EJ Casaña, JP Bugaoan, Alfred Valbuena, Wendel Miguel, and Lloyd Josafat.

The HD Spikers, who secured the Open Conference crown and finished as the runners-up in the Invitational Conference, are gearing up for the new season.

However, the team will be without libero Manuel Sumanguid III, who announced his departure from the club on Monday afternoon.

Marck Espejo, who achieved three championships in the country's premier men's club league, bid farewell to Cignal on Sunday.
