The reason? The imminent debut of the team in the highly awaited 2024 Spikers' Turf season, under the seasoned guidance of Thai head coach Tai Bundit, who is making his coaching return to the Philippines after a three-year hiatus.
With a lineup that reads like a volleyball dream team, the star-studded King Crunchers are gearing up for what promises to be a thrilling season.
Bundit, a PVL champion coach with a track record of success with Ateneo and the Cool Smashers, expressed his lofty aspirations for Criss Cross during the press conference.
"In my dream, champion," declared the Thai maestro, setting the bar high for his formidable squad.
Bundit, known for his ability to mold successful teams, pledged to bring out the best in his players, echoing the coaching magic he displayed with his former teams.
His commitment is not just about winning but fostering personal growth and transforming each athlete into a better version of themselves.
"My players [are] very good; they concentrate in the training, and I will support them to be better players. I have experience, I will do better in the men’s team in Rebisco," assured Bundit, emphasizing his dedication to the development of Criss Cross.
Leading the charge for the Spikers' Turf newcomers are volleyball luminaries Marck Espejo, Ysay Marasigan, Kim Malabunga, and Ish Polvorosa. The team's depth is further enhanced by the inclusion of players like Rex Intal, Chu Njigha, Manuel Sumanguid, Geuel Asia, Juvie Mangaring, Vince Mangulabnan, and Gian Glorioso.
Adding a unique flavor to the roster are beach volleyball standouts Jude Garcia, Krung Arbasto, Philip Bagalay, and Jaron Requinton, showcasing Criss Cross's commitment to a diverse and dynamic squad.
Expressing gratitude to Rebisco owner Jonathan Ng, Bundit spoke warmly of the support he has received: "Now I feel happy because my boss [is] really kind to me. Boss Jonathan is really kind to me."
In return, Bundit pledged to repay the trust placed in him by steering Criss Cross toward championship glory.
