Santa Rosa City stretched its winning run to three games after blasting Ranran-Abdilla less Philippine Air Force in three, 25-22, 25-23, 25-23, yesterday in the 2023 Spikers' Turf Open Conference at Paco Arena in Manila.
Abdilla is the league's leading scorer with 107 points through six games but is out indefinitely due to a left knee injury he incurred while training for the beach volleyball national team
The Lions came back from a 20-23 hole in the third with five straight points capped by Jerico Adajar's service ace to complete the sweep and rise to 3-4.
"Sabi ko lang puso at maglaro nang matalino kasi more of a mental game ang volleyball, hindi lang palaging palakasan," said Santa Rosa head coach Edu Lirio.
Yoyong Mendoza almost had a triple-double of 13 points, 10 excellent receptions, and nine digs for the Lions while setter Adajar got active with 13 excellent sets and nine points on four blocks and two aces.
JR Labrador and Edwin Tolentino picked up the offensive cudgels for the 1-6 Airmen with 15 and 13 points, respectively.
