Jude Garcia, Criss Cross ready for Cignal showdown

Anticipation crackles as Criss Cross, led by their main man Jude Garcia, gears up to face off against defending champion Cignal in the upcoming clash at the 2024 Spikers’ Turf Open Conference this Sunday.

Garcia, a seasoned player with a championship under his belt from his time with the HD Spikers in 2019, now stands at the forefront of the King Crunchers’ lineup. Teaming up with former Cignal stars like Ysay Marasigan, Manuel Sumanguid, Chu Njigha, Geuel Asia, and the illustrious Marck Espejo, Garcia brings a blend of experience and firepower to the court, ready to take on any challenge.

However, Cignal isn't one to be underestimated.

Bolstering their roster with notable signings like Mark Calado, Madz Gampong, Nas Gwaza, and Bryan Bagunas, among others, they are determined to maintain their crown in the Open Conference.

Speaking on the impending showdown, Garcia emphasized the challenger mindset, acknowledging the formidable status of the reigning champions.

"They're still the champion team, so it's a significant experience for us to face them. We're going to challenge them. We're the ones who will really step up to the challenge because they're the champions. We'll give our all in every point," Garcia stated.

Garcia's prowess has been instrumental in Criss Cross' flawless 4-0 start in the tournament. His exceptional performance earned him the honor of being named the first-ever Spikers’ Turf Press Corps Player of the Week.

With 19 points in their recent nail-biting victory over the D’Navigators, Garcia showcased his ability to lead his team to victory even in the toughest of battles.

Reflecting on their journey thus far, Garcia expressed satisfaction in seeing the team maintain their momentum post-Holy Week break.

"It's incredibly gratifying because after the break during Holy Week, our composure in the game remained intact," Garcia shared.

"Even in close matches, we didn't waver. The composure among my teammates was there, and we trusted each other. The trust instilled by our coaches never wavered."

As the clock ticks closer to Sunday's face-off at the Philsports Arena, the stage is set for an electrifying encounter between two volleyball powerhouses.

With Garcia leading the charge, Criss Cross stands poised to challenge the reigning champions, fueled by determination and a hunger for victory.
