CIGNAL bolstered its already stacked roster by acquiring reigning Spikers' Turf MVP Jao Umandal.
Together with Far Eastern University star Mark Calado, University of the East stalwart Lloyd Josafat and former College of Saint Benilde standout Ruvince Abrot, Umandal was formally introduced by the decorated men's volleyball club Wednesday.
The HD Spikers are gunning for a season sweep of championships when the Spikers' Turf returns in October.
Umandal and Josafat are teammates in AMC Cotabato, which placed second behind Cignal in the Open Conference last March, while Abrot suited up for Vanguard.
Calado, meanwhile, led the Tamaraws to a third place finish in the UAAP men's volleyball tournament. He will be reunited with middle blocker JP Bugaoan.
Umandal, a product of University of Santo Tomas, Calado and Abrot will give Cignal more offensive option along with Marck Espejo, Wendel Miguel and Ysay Marasigan.
With Josafat, the HD Spikers will provide another threat in the middle along with Bugaoan, Peter Torres and Chum Njigha.
