Iloilo’s Jade Disquitado will take on familiar faces as the D’Navigators collide with the Sta. Rosa City Lions today (Friday) even as unbeaten AMC-Cotabato guns for a fifth straight win against Imus-ITP today in the Spikers’ Turf Open Conference at the Paco Arena.
Disquitado, who played for Sta. Rosa in the last edition of the country’s premier men’s volley pro league, braces for a tough and highly competitive but friendly match against his former teammates, now headed by Yoyong Mendoza and Jerico Adajar.
The D’Navigators wavered after sweeping the first two sets against the Navy Sealions last Wednesday but recovered in time to escape with a five-set win that stretched their win run to five.
“At least one at a time kami. Ngayon, tapos na namin yung Navy so review na naman kami bukas kasi yun yung chance namin na mag-review para sa Sta. Rosa,” said Iloilo head coach John Kenneth Panes.
Gametime is at 5:30 p.m. with the D’Navigators wary against the City Lions, who swept their last three games after dropping the first four to keep their slim semis hopes alive.
The Cotabato Spikers also set out to stretch their roll to five following a stroll over the defending champion National U Builders, also the other night, as they battle the AJAA Spikers in the 3 p.m. opener.
The Cavite-based squad, meanwhile, is out to rebound from a five-set setback to the resurgent VNS team last Sunday.
Games are telecast live on One Sports, One Sports+, Cignal Play, SMART Live Stream and spikersturf.ph.
