The volleyball community is mourning the sudden loss of Ike Barilea (November 9, 2004 – November 11, 2025), who passed away on Tuesday at just 21 years old.
Barilea, a promising spiker from Negros, first turned heads during the 2025 U21 National Finals, leading 1Silay Volleyball Club to a bronze finish.
His performance earned him a place in the initial Alas Pilipinas Men pool for the 2025 FIVB Men’s World Championship, where he trained alongside the country’s top talents.
He also competed with Cignal in the 2025 AVC Men’s Champions League in Japan, joining a squad composed of national-level players.
Earlier in his career, Barilea played for Santa Rosa City in the 2022 Spikers’ Turf season.
Friends, teammates, and fans remember him as a dedicated athlete whose passion, energy, and commitment left a mark on Philippine volleyball.
