Gampong ponders re-booking flight home as Army stays alive

Playing just in his third game for Army-Katinko Oil, Madz Gampong immediately made his impact and led the Troopers to its breakthrough victory in the 2022 Spikers’ Turf Open Conference, Thursday.

Gampong dropped a personal-best 22 points on 13 attacks, seven blocks, and two aces to go along with 12 digs in the 25-21, 22-25, 25-21, 17-25, 15-6 win over Sta. Rosa City which helped his side stay in the race for the final semifinals seat.

"Medyo nagadjust kasi ako noong una dahil hindi pa ako nakapagtraining nakapaglaro na agad ako," said the National University standout.

“Ngayon, nakapagadjust na ako. Gusto ko silang tulungan kasi alam ko gusto rin nilang manalo saka gusto ko rin mag Army kaya napunta rin ako dito."

During the post-game interview, the PNVF Champions League champion said that he has played his last game for Army-Katinko Oil as he is set to go home to Tawi-Tawi on Sunday.

But with the Final Four slot on the line, Gampong bared that he is still weighing things as of the moment.

"Unang una gusto kong manalo dahil last ko na maglaro ito dahil uuwi na ako. Tatlong game lang po ako dito sa Army," he shared during the post-game interview.

"Diba uuwi ako? Kumbaga pag-isipan ko pa kasi pwede naman irebook yun kasi may game pa," he added.

With the win against the Lions, the Troopers (1-4) forced a three-way tie for the fifth spot with Ateneo-Fudgee Barr and Sta. Rosa while VNS-One Alicia is currently at fourth with a 2-2 card.

"Gusto ko rin silang makapasok ng Top Four eh alam ko kailangan din ni coach ako dahil kulang sila sa wing."
