FEU-Chef on a Diet romps Bayleaf-LPU for Pool D pole

FEU-Chef on a Diet matched EcoOil-La Salle’s romp in practically the same fashion, encountering little trouble in the first two sets before holding sway in the third for a 25-12, 25-15, 25-22 victory over The Bayleaf Hotels-Lyceum in Pool D play on Sunday at Paco Arena.

Jomel Codilla scored 10 points, Andrei Delicana and John Mendoza came up with nine and eight markers, respectively, while nine others added at least one point, all in two-set stints as coach Eddieson Orcullo got everybody involved in their 70-minute win.

“We prepared hard against Bayleaf. Nasa daan pa lang, naka-focus na kami na lalaruin ng maayos (ang Bayleaf) na yung mga mali dapat iwasan,” said Orcullo.

They did as the Tamaraws imposed their will in the first two sets they clinched in 42 minutes. Though they were dragged into a close contest in the third, they withstood the Pirates' challenge to score a follow-up to their five-set escape over the Navy side last Oct. 22.

“Mentras na dumidikit (ang laro at scoring), dapat lalo kaming tumitibay,” added Orcullo.

The Tamaraws finished with 42 attack points, doubling their rivals’ output. They also made nine blocks and seven aces against Bayleaf’s two and one, respectively, to underscore their domination and deal the latter its second straight loss.

Team captain Jun Edang top-scored for Bayleaf with nine points.
