Dream come true for EJ Casana

It was a dream come true for EJ Casana, the former University of Perpetual Help System DALTA playmaker who led Cignal to a stunning Game One victory over AMC-Cotabato in the 2023 Spikers' Turf Open Conference finale.

Casana left it all out on the court, delivering 17 excellent sets and four points to help the HD Spikers inch closer to reclaiming the Open Conference title. For the first time, he made it to the grand stage and was determined to make his presence felt.

"I am very happy because ever since I imagined being a part of Cignal, I promised to give my best for them to become champions in this conference," said Casana.

The team's preparation paid off as they worked double in their preparation against the Cotabato Spikers for the best-of-three finals. According to Casana, the credit goes to the coaching staff, the system, and the whole team who worked hard to win the game.

HD Spikers head coach Dexter Clamor praised Casana for his performance, keeping his composure despite the bright lights of the Spikers' Turf finale. Clamor also pointed out that Casana is very coachable, which makes his work a lot easier.

"I am so proud of that kid. He is very coachable, easy to teach, listens well, and at the same time really talented," said the two-time Spikers' Turf champion coach.

Casana is hopeful that the team can sustain their fine start and close the series in Game Two. He emphasized that they need to polish their game and avoid rushing as they move point by point.

With the HD Spikers' Game One victory, all eyes are now on EJ Casana and his dream team as they prepare for Game Two. If they continue to play with the same level of intensity and teamwork, they might just bring home the championship title.
