D’Navigators sustained their impressive form with another dominant performance, dispatching the Maverick Hard Hitters, 25-16, 25-18, 25-17, to stretch their win run to three in the 2024 Spikers’ Turf Open Conference at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City Wednesday.
With the victory, the D’Navigators joined Criss Cross and Cignal at the top of the standings although the HD Spikers aimed to regain solo control with a match against the Philippine Air Force side being played at presstime.
Coach Boyet Delmoro attributed their strong start to the team’s peak performance in previous practices, emphasizing the importance of maintaining consistency in their preparations.
“Medyo nagpe-peak kami doon sa mga previous practices kasi talagang naghahanda kami. Kailangan lang may continuity ang ensayo namin pa lagi,” said Delmoro.
Francis Saura continued to lead the charge for the D’Navigators, coming away with 15 points on 10 attacks and five blocks, while Jayvee Sumagaysay and Edward Camposano added 11 and 10 markers, respectively.
JM Apolinario orchestrated the team’s offense with 11 excellent sets, demonstrating the team’s balanced attacking strategy, which involved 10 players registering at least a point. He added two points and four excellent receptions.
The D’Navigators dominated the Hard Hitters in all categories, tallying 42 attacks, nine blocks, and four aces, compared to the Hard Hiiters’ 28 attack points and two kill blocks.
Looking ahead, Delmoro stressed the need for the team to accelerate their game and focus on blocking in preparation for their upcoming matches against Cignal and Criss Cross.
“We still need to speed up our game and focus on blocking in preparation for our matches against Cignal and Criss Cross,” said Delmoro, whose wards will next face the VNS-Nasty Griffins on Friday at the same venue.
In contrast, Maverick absorbed its third consecutive loss.
Kim Tan paced the Hard Hitters with nine points and six excellent receptions while team captain Razzel Palisoc chipped in eight markers.
