AMC-Cotabato Spikers went through some anxious moments in the third set but swept the Vanguard Volley Hitters just the same, 25-20, 25-14, 25-23, to hike their record to 7-1 and clinch a semis berth in the 2023 Spikers Turf Open Conference, Sunday at Paco Arena.
Joshua Umandal fired a game-high 13 points and 11 attacks while Jayvee Sumagaysay added 12 markers on six attacks, three aces and three blocks as the Cotabato Spikers stayed at second behind the HD Spikers (9-0).
Madz Gampong chipped nine ponts while Fil-Am Steven Rotter debuted for Cotabato with eight attacks for a nine-point output.
“Happy pero pagdating sa semis siguro, may game plan na ako kasi hanggang matapos ‘tong elims, I’m working on the system and the team cohesion,” said Cotabato coach Odjie Mamon.
“Nagka-calibrate pa kami ng speed ng setting, height ng setting, so ‘yun pa rin. Siguro may two games pa kami to adjust,” he added.
Vanguard, which drew seven points from Razzel Palisoc, fell to 1-7.
