Cignal team captain Ysay Marasigan said that the team's communication proved to be the difference maker in their third set turnaround against VNS-One Alicia, Thursday.
The HD Spikers surrendered a 20-15 advantage in the third set after the Griffins mounted a 9-2 blast to move at set point.
Marasigan and Edmar Bonono scored on consecutive attempts before Ben San Andres committed two straight errors which eventually sealed the deal for Cignal.
“As one talaga kami. Every move or galaw namin inside the court we communicate with each other para maging effective talaga yung attacks namin.”
Aside from scoring the crucial hits, Marasigan's leadership was also on full display in the third set as he constantly reminded his teammates to stick to head coach Dexter Clamor's game plan.
Isang proper receive, proper set, then doon kami sa advantage namin which is yung wing spikers kasi maliit yung blockers sa wings nila so doon kami sa advantage namin.”
The reigning conference MVP finished with a game-high 14 points on 12 attacks, an ace, and a block in Cignal's third consecutive win of the tournament.
