Clamor preaches patience as Cignal fights for dear life

Composure, according to Cignal head coach Dexter Clamor, is what doomed the HD Spikers in their Game One loss to National University-Sta. Elena in the 2022 Spikers’ Turf Open Conference finals, Thursday.

Clamor said that the team failed to contain their emotions, especially during the third set which affected their overall performance throughout the rest of the 25-21, 20-25, 25-23, 25-18 defeat at the hands of the Nationals.

“Talagang nag-struggle talaga kami lalo na nung third and fourth set. ‘Di namin na-compose yung sarili namin, nagkaroon ng emotions, ‘di na-control yung emotions namin all throughout the game even nung patapos,” said Clamor.

“May mga pagkakataon na iniintindi yung mga tawag ng referees, may pagkakataon na nafu-frustrate, so kitang kita naman sa body language ng mga players.”

Make no mistake, Clamor shared that the team has already sorted everything out immediately right after the match.

“Ang importante dito may bawi, pwede pa kaming bumawi sa Game Two. So yun, kanina after ng game nag-huddle kami and first na sinabi ko is i-compose yung sarili para sa training namin bukas positive lang and going to Saturday’s game medyo mataas yung morale hindi yung puro negative,” said the player-turned-coach.

Aside from keeping their emotions in check, Clamor revealed that he is looking to dig deep into his bench come Game Two and utilize his reserves.

“One thing siguro na kailangan namin i-consider for Game Two is yung mga bench players namin na kayang mag-contribute. Yun nga, medyo malalim yung bench ko pero hindi nama-maximize sometimes,” he said.

“Siguro on Game Two, ita-try namin kung sino yung pwedeng maka-contribute at possible na makatulong.”

Game Two of the finals will be on Saturday at 5:30 PM.
