Cignal has parted ways with Steven Rotter and Vince Maglinao, the Spikers’ Turf club announced Friday night.
Rotter was a key figure in Cignal’s recent success, helping the HD Spikers win the 2024 Invitational and 2025 Open Conferences, while Maglinao saw limited action before deciding to step away from competitive volleyball to pursue flight school.
Rotter earned Best Opposite Spiker and Finals MVP honors in the 2024 Invitational, leading Cignal past rival Criss Cross in the finals. He also claimed the league’s first-ever Season Best Opposite Spiker award during his time with the team.
Rotter’s final conference with Cignal, the 2025 Invitational, proved more challenging. He struggled to regain his top form, and the HD Spikers were hampered by the absence of key players, including Alas Pilipinas standouts Owa Retamar, Louie Ramírez, Vince Lorenzo, and Lloyd Josafat.
Cignal finished third in the Invitational Conference, marking the franchise’s first time missing the finals since 2018.
Maglinao, meanwhile, opted to leave the team after just one conference, ending his brief stint with Cignal to focus on his studies and flight school ambitions.
