Cignal, Navy log 2nd wins in PNVF CL

YSAY Marasigan led Cignal in a 25-18, 21-25, 25-11, 25-12 victory over Basilan to remain unbeaten in the PNVF Champions League Monday at the Philsports Arena.

Although the HD Spikers made it two in a row, as coach Dexter Clamor is looking forward for better effort heading into their last two Pool A assignments.

"Actually nagiging complacent masyado yung team lalo na pagka feel nila na ah medyo kaya," said Clamor after the one-hour, 47-minute match. "Ang dami nang unforced errors during the first game and the second game. We are working out for those unforced errors. Hopefully sa susunod na game, mabawasan. Ma-minimize namin yung unforced errors namin para mas maganda ang maging results."

Marasigan came through with 18 points, including three blocks and two service aces, while Marck Espejo logged 10 points for Cignal.

Clamor, who steered Cignal to two Spikers' Turf crowns in 2019, is also happy with the way reserves Wendel Miguel, who had two blocks to also finish with 10 points, Peter Torres, who also recorded two blocks, and Chumason Njigha are delivering.

"Those players are very commendable sa ginagawa nila. Kasi even though hindi sila first six, kapag pinasok sila, they really perform well," said Clamor.

PGJC-Navy later joined Cignal on top of the Pool A standings following a 25-15, 25-14, 25-20 conquest of VNS Quezon City.

Joeven dela Vega had two blocks for a 15-point outing while Greg Dolor added 10 points as the Sea Lions needed only 70 minutes to pin the Griffins a second straight loss.

In Pool C Sunday, PJ Rojas had 16 points while Benjaylo Labide had three blocks for a 13-point outing as Army Taguig City outlasted UE Manila, 22-25, 25-18, 19-25, 25-20, 15-13 in a late night thriller to even its record to 1-1.
