Ateneo de Manila University-Fudgee Barr notched its first win in the Spikers' Turf Open Conference after a 32-30, 25-15, 16-25, 25-15 win over Army-Katinko on Saturday.
The win put the Blue Eagles at 1-3, keeping their flickering semis bid alive.
However, a big test awaits Ateneo-Fudgee Barr as it will meet the 3-0 Cignal next on Thursday at 5:30 pm.
Familiar faces will be at the HD Spikers' huddle as the squad is bannered by Ateneo alums Marck Espejo, Ysay Marasigan, Rex Intal, Chumason Njigha, and Manuel Sumanguid.
"Actually idol namin sila so isang napakalaking privilege and opportunity na makaharap namin sila sa game," said Kennedy Batas, who led the Blue Eagles with 17 points.
"Still, aapply namin 'yung system na meron kami, and hopefully we can do again 'yung ginawa namin kanina," he added, referring to their good showing against the Troopers.
Meanwhile, Ateneo-Fudgee Barr head coach Timothy Sto. Tomas wants his players to learn from their seniors on the other end of the net, who are the two-time defending champion of the country's first and only men's league.
"It's a good opportunity for us na makalaban 'yung isang champion team. Veterans na 'yung mga 'yun so we have a lot to gain going against them."
