Bagunas warns Cignal not to fall into trap of complacency

In the electrifying showdown at the 2024 Spikers’ Turf Open Conference round-robin semifinals, the Cignal HD Spikers made a resounding statement.

Their victory over the PGJC-Navy was not just a win; it was a declaration of intent, a proclamation that they are not here to merely compete but to dominate.

Bryan Bagunas, the former TVL MVP, emerged as the beacon of this determination. With the vigor of a warrior on a quest, Bagunas orchestrated a masterclass performance, amassing an impressive 21 points.

His arsenal included 18 attacks, two aces, and a decisive block.

Yet, amidst the individual brilliance, Bagunas remains steadfastly focused on the collective goal.

"First game namin ‘to sa semis, malaking bagay ‘to na naging result is 3-0 nga. Syempre ‘di pa natatapos dito yun, may dalawang games pa kami so kailangan pa namin na pagbutihan sa susunod na games," expressed Bagunas, echoing the team's hunger for excellence.

The victory, though comprehensive, failed to satiate the team's appetite for perfection. Bagunas pointed out areas of improvement, particularly in serve and reception.

It's this relentless pursuit of improvement that sets champions apart.

Looking ahead, Bagunas understands the challenges that lie in wait. Yet, he exudes confidence, ready to shoulder the responsibility that comes with being a leader.

“Siguro ayun nga, palagi ko namang sinasabi sa kanila na nandito lang ako. Kapag kailangan na nila ng tulong, ibibigay ko yung best ko syempre ayun naman yung lagi kong sinasabi sa lahat ng nagiging team ko,” said Bagunas.

Despite being relatively new to the team, Bagunas is actively forging connections, both on and off the court. His dedication to unity and camaraderie underscores his commitment to the collective cause.
