Bagunas to miss Imus' semis campaign as Win Streak reaches Finals

Bryan Bagunas' return to the Spikers' Turf has hit a major snag. The volleyball star has been ruled out of the rest of the 2023 season's semifinals after his club in Taiwan, Win Streak, reached the finals of the Top Volleyball League. Bagunas' absence is a significant loss for Imus-Ivy Tuason Photography, and head coach Sammy Acaylar confirmed the development.

Bagunas could have been a vital player for Imus, and his absence in the upcoming semifinals game against Cotabato is a significant blow to the team's chances of advancing to the finals. However, there is still a glimmer of hope for the AJAA Spikers, as Bagunas may still be able to suit up for the finals if they make it there.

Acaylar expressed his disappointment at Bagunas' unavailability for the semifinals but remained optimistic that they could still make it to the championship. He said, "I checked the schedule. The plan was for him to arrive on the 27th because he has a championship game in Taiwan. I don't know if he can make it to the semifinals."

The AJAA Spikers already started their round-robin semifinals campaign last Wednesday, losing to the top-ranked Cignal in straight sets. With a 0-1 record, the team is in a must-win situation against AMC-Cotabato to stay alive in the finals race.

"But in case we make it to the championship, he will join us. But for the semifinals, it's 50-50." Acaylar added.

Imus also needs to take care of business against Iloilo and hope that Cignal sweeps the semis to secure a spot in the top two.

Despite the setback, the AJAA Spikers remain focused on their goal and are determined to make it to the finals. With or without Bagunas, they believe they have what it takes to compete at the highest level and bring home the championship trophy.
